The web-site allows to everybody to get information about unique native tree – pistachio (Pistacia vera). This tree may shift degraded hills to forest and make people rich!
The web-site is supported by the team from the Republic’s Scientific-Production Center for Decorative Gardening and Forestry.
The web-site has been developed in the frame of a project of Michael Succow Foundation, financed by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GiZ) GmbH (German Society for International Cooperation). Since 2008 the IKI has been financing climate and biodiversity projects in developing and newly industrialising countries, as well as in countries in transition. Based on a decision taken by the German parliament (Bundestag), a sum of at least 120 million euros is available for use by the initiative annually. The IKI is a key element of Germany’s climate financing and the funding commitments in the framework of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
The project is jointly implemented with the GEF Small Grants Programme in Uzbekistan and scientifically supervised by the Republic’s Scientific-Production Center for Decorative Gardening and Forestry.
